Still Accepting CSA Members!

Wow, what a spring!  First frigidly cold, then reminiscent of June, and now looking a little more like the spring I know.

We’ve been so busy in the fields we haven’t had much time to post lately.  We’ve got about 2.5 acres of our 5 acre farm in potatoes, root veggies, lettuces, brassicas, beans, garlic, onions, and more!  We’ll soon be planting our first peppers, tomatoes, squash, and cucumbers.  Boy, thinking of all those summer goodies makes my mouth water.

If you’re interested in supporting local farms and love the taste of fresh, organic produce, you should definitely consider signing up for our CSA (community supported agriculture) program.  We’ve only got about 30 spots still available and they’re going fast!  If you have any questions, check out our website at www.serenbefarms.com/food/csa or give us a call or email (info@serenbefarms.com).

CSA if my favorite means of marketing.  It’s a symbiotic relationship between producer and co-producer (aka consumer).  We, as farmers, promise to grow food for our customers, and our customers promise to fund the growing operation up front when we incur most of our costs.  Beyond the financial support, I also find the relationships very rewarding.  On our Tuesday distribution days, it’s common to see kids running around and playing on our tree swing, families taking a stroll through our fields and feeding the chickens veggie scraps, and members picking a bounty of flowers from our ever-blooming flower patch.  I love watching our customers walk back to their cars or homes with baskets full of vegetables that they’ll cook over the course of the week.

We’re off to an early start and our tentative first pick up is the last Tuesday in April.  We offer several share options.  The best value includes 30 weeks of vegetables, herbs, and fruits for $750.  Choose your pick up location either at the farm in Chattahoochee Hills or at Strongbox West located in the Westside of Atlanta.  Our pick up process is unique, instead of getting a ‘box’ you interact with one of your farmers and pick out produce specified by the weekly share list.

If the locations offered don’t work for you and you live in Ansley Park or Peachtree City, please let us know if you’re interested in joining.  If enough show interest, we’ll add drop locations.

We hope that you’ll consider joining us for the season.
